BREMBO BRAKE UPGRADE

Some may have seen our Brembo calipers on Instagram - here we will go into a little more detail regarding their make over. Our project F30 came with single pot calipers on the front which in our eyes are quite inadequate for a car which weighs over 1500kg. Stopping at highway speeds saw the car not struggle but appeared a little 'over worked' when stopping. In addition, there are plans to take this car to the track in future so some larger calipers will definitely assist with fade. As the F30 came with optional 4 piston Brembo's on the front - this was a no brainer to upgrade to these. The BMW Stealership wanted approximately $1000 per caliper, you heard right - so naturally we ended up sourcing a second hand pair in good condition online. This is what they looked like with a light sand.

With some quick masking, VHT Cast Iron (SP997) High Temperature paint, and High Temperature Clear the calipers were starting to transform.

However, the icing on the cake comes when we added the Brembo Caliper Decals.

In addition to this, the larger calipers support larger rotors so front rotors have been upgraded to Zimmerman 340mm cross drilled sports rotors. The rear also received Zimmerman cross drilled sports rotors, however, retains the standard single caliper and hand brake configuration. Pads were also changed to Cool Carbon pads and they generate substantially less dust than the standard pads. The new brake gear is still wearing in but there is already a noticeable improvement when stopping quickly or at higher ruise speeds. In addition to this, all parts we used are direct bolt on for F30 including the pad sensor wire which is compatible across the F20/F30 platform. For more information or details on the parts we used, feel free to leave a comment below or shoot us an email.
